AI Too Expensive But Free, Call9, Another LLM Doctor, Vanya
🪦The Digital Health Morgue
Call9, an on-demand doctor platform, faced closure due to a flawed business model where doctors' pay was tied to patient satisfaction, leading to financial instability when patients chose to pay less or nothing. Additionally, a rapid expansion, unsustained by their financial situation, and changing investor expectations for quicker returns further exacerbated their downfall.
☀️🌕 Which Way is Up?
I love AI code help. I saw this story about how Github Co-pilot loses $20 per month per user at the same time I saw that replit is rebranding it's AI Ghostwriter and making it free to everyone (pro users have better model access apparently).
🥲 Another Silicon Based Doctor
GPT to make the dx. It's coming, if not already arrived in some way, as I've seen others as well. I remember when I graduated medical school, the dean of the medical school said "We spent the last four years teaching you medicine, half of which will turn out to be wrong in some way. The rest of your career will be spent figuring out which half is wrong." Curious how LLMs will deal with ambiguity in their training data in the long run, I guess just retraining a lot. If it takes 18 years to change medical practice, I wonder how long it will take LLMs to change their own practice.

Vanya: Visualize FHIR, in a Medplum kinda way, without the Medplum.
